The Green Iguana is a large arboreal lizard native to Central and South America. They are frequently purchased as small, cute juveniles but quickly become massive, high-maintenance adults.

Temperament: Highly intelligent but can be highly territorial and aggressive as adults, especially males. Size/Tank: Can grow to 5–7 feet long and weigh up to 20 lbs. Requires a custom-built enclosure that is often a room-sized structure (8′×6′×8′ is a bare minimum for a large adult) with significant vertical space for climbing and basking. Care: Require a thermal gradient with a basking spot of 95∘F−105∘F, UVB lighting (essential for Vitamin D3 synthesis and calcium absorption), and high humidity (70%−80%). Lifespan: 15–20 years. Commitment: Very high commitment, suitable only for expert reptile keepers.
