Temperament: Docile, shy, and generally easy to handle, making them one of the most popular pet snakes. They are easily stressed by excessive light or large, open spaces. Housing: Adults require a secure, escape-proof tank of 40 gallons or larger. Must provide a thermal gradient (hot and cool side) and two secure hiding spots (one on each end) so they can regulate their temperature and feel safe. Care: Require high, consistent humidity (50%−60%) to ensure healthy shedding. Fed frozen/thawed rodents, usually every 10–14 days for adults. Lifespan: 20–30+ years.
